Firefly Rewards provided an easy to use data entry and management system that enabled small merchants to create a virtual self-operating customer rewards application that monitored customer sales and issued rewards automatically when certain sales thresholds were met.

Project manager and developer hired to rapidly create a new platform/product based on the current deficient product in production. Delivered a new product and migrated existing data in six months. Production application was down for one weekend during data migration and testing. New product delivered 99.99% uptime and existing customer satisfaction improved as did new customer acquisition

The application was initially rolled out to lending organizations with positive feedback and acceptance, but financial regulatory compliance changes and the introduction of Appraisal Management Companies diminished the industry opportunity for AppraisalLink.

AP Technology is a Carlsbad, California-based company that processes more than $35 billion in payments annually for thousands of customers that include banks, financial institutions, government organizations, universities, and businesses of all sizes.

Consultant | Project Technical Lead
Overall project technical lead to create a new platform to migrate State of California entitlement payments from a check creation/mail process to a debit card issue and fund process. Resulting process was architected, developed and implemented in seven months through Agile. Responsible for developing architecture, development plan and managing other technical resources. Integrated with Visa web services to issue new debit cards and other account management details. The project entailed receiving nightly files from the State of California mainframe, processing the files for errors, adding the data to a SQL Server based platform and then managing the process of issuing debit cards and funding them with the necessary entitlement payments.

  • New processing platform went into production in January, 2011 in Bank of America data centers, and has been in production continuously since launch, processing over $40 billion in payments without hitting SLA violations
  • Responsible for architecting, designing and implementing SQL Server DDL and DML code using stored procedures to manage the operational workflow of nightly
  • Architected and coded a C# multi-threaded windows service that watched for new incoming files from the state and positioned the files for nightly processing
  • Architected and coded a C# multi-threaded windows service that coordinates the nightly processing of data from the State of California. Redundant and transactional rollback processes were components of the process to maintain correct data processing of the files
  • Managed the manifests, packaging and delivering of weekly code to Bank of America for unit and system testing

MYPRINT | Irvine, CA | 2004 to 2009
Myprint was a leading provider of commercial printing, warehouse management and pick and pack order fulfillment. They were an early adopter of e-commerce and related technologies to enable their customers to order both standard and customized printing from myprint.com. Myprint was purchased by a private equity firm and combined with other acquisitions and subsequently sold.

Responsible for technology vision and implementation of Myprint’s e-commerce platforms. Defined and architected the platforms that served as the core of Myprint’s customer facing systems. Included in this were the e-commerce site, an array of rendering machines that produced real time customized .pdf proofs for review online, integration with Macola ERP, gift card sites and other related products to help facilitate shipping and customer product delivery processes.

  • Top line revenues rose 80% as a result of the e-commerce and real time print rendering products.
